If you’re looking for a good reason to retire an old, full-size refrigerator or freezer, ActOnEnergy® will give you three:

Save $150 a year or more on the extra energy your old refrigerator or freezer has been guzzling.
ActOnEnergy will give you a $50 reward to kick off the savings.
We’ll even pick up your full-size refrigerator or freezer and haul it away at no charge!

We have good news for those with a sentimental attachment to their aging appliances – ActOnEnergy gives them a new life. We take old refrigerators and freezers to our recycling facility in Springfield for recycling of their metal, glass and plastic parts. These parts are recycled and made into brand new products.

Eligibility and Participation Requirements

Are you eligible for free refrigerator or freezer appliance pickup and a $50 reward?

You are if:

You’re an Ameren Illinois residential electric customer, and
Your refrigerator or freezer is full-size (i.e., 10-27 cubic ft) and still cools.

That’s it! It doesn’t matter how old the appliance is, or where it is in your home. You don’t even have to purchase a new appliance to qualify for the reward.

If you meet the eligibility requirements above, grab your Ameren Illinois account number and schedule an appliance pickup online, or to schedule a pickup by phone call 1.866.899.9088.

Either way, once we’ve taken that old refrigerator or freezer off your hands, we’ll send you a check for $50 within six weeks.

City of Urbana, IL Energy-Efficiency Strategy: Free Home Energy Audits and Discounts on Home Improvements

Learn how the City of Urbana, IL partnered with Ameren IL ActOnEnergy program to offer its homeowners major energy-efficiency incentives — replacing conventional light bulbs with CFLs in high-usage areas, installing high-efficiency showerheads and faucet aerators, and offering incentives for home air/duct sealing and home insulation improvements. Urbana, IL area homeowners paid as little as 10% to 20% of the total cost of the job!
