Celebrating 80 Years of Commitment to Quality Home Building
In July of 2009 Blume Builders completed the first Act On Energy^® ENERGY STAR^® qualified home. But the East Peoria-based company isn’t new to energy efficient building practices. They’ve been a leader in building energy efficient homes since 1983.

Founded by Sam Blume in 1930, the company grew, even during the Great Depression. After serving in the Navy, Sam’s son, Bob, joined the company and made his own contributions through innovations in building design and efficiency.

The company's management has grown to include Bob's children: Nancy, Kelly and Bobby. Every Blume is knowledgeable about the extra care that goes into a Blume home.

"The most important component is the insulation," states Bob Blume.

More Quality Means More Savings
Every home built by Blume contains MORE of the right type of insulation in MORE areas of the home. For instance, Blume homes contain insulation in every corner post—an area usually not insulated in standard construction methods.

The company uses 2x8” Douglas fir rafters and raises the rafters to allow an additional 9" of insulation, including the outside edge under the roof. Rigid foam insulation is another extra you'll find in every Blume home, which provides more consistent wall insulation and reduces the potential for condensation and moisture problems.
