$25 Rebate On Programmable Thermostats
Benefits of Programmable Thermostats
The average home spends about $2,200 a year on utility bills, about half of that going to heating and cooling. With proper use, programmable thermostats can save about $180 every year in energy costs.
Proper use guidelines
- Keep the temperature set at the energy saving set points when no one is home or through the night (periods of at least eight hours).
- Don’t consistently over-ride the pre-programmed settings, which results in more energy use and higher utility bills.
- Be sure to set your thermostat on an efficient “hold” or “vacation” setting when going away for a few days. Choose a setting several degrees warmer in the summer and several degrees cooler in the winter.
- Cranking your unit up to 90 degrees or down to 40 degrees does not heat or cool your house any faster.
- Install your thermostat on an interior wall, away from heating or cooling vents.
- If your home has multiple heating or cooling zones, use a programmable thermostat for each zone to maximize comfort and savings.
- Don’t forget to change the batteries each year.
