Rebates on ENERGY STAR® Products

Act On Energy is offering eligible customers a $25 rebate on the purchase of ENERGY STAR qualified dehumidifiers. Download and print a Dehumidifier Rebate form.

The preferred indoor relative humidity is between 30 percent and 50 percent. Higher levels of humidity can cause discomfort, condensation and even health risks such as mold and mildew.

ENERGY STAR qualified dehumidifiers remove the same amount of moisture as conventional models but use 10 to 20 percent less energy. The energy you save in one year could power your refrigerator for six months!

When shopping for a dehumidifier, it is important to find one with the right capacity to meet your needs. The following chart, developed by the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) can help.

Most dehumidifiers collect water they pull from the air in a plastic container, which must be emptied when full, and come with a hose connector, enabling connection to a sump pump or floor drainage system. Some dehumidifiers offer additional features that add convenience without improved efficiency, such as a timer, washable air filter, pause button, built-in condensate pump, multiple fan speeds, handles and wheels. Though not endorsed by ENERGY STAR these added features may help you choose the most suitable model for your needs.

The energy factor of a dehumidifier is measured in liters (of moisture removed) per kilowatt hour of L/kWh. An ENERGY STAR qualified dehumidifier ranges from 1.20 to 1.80 L/kWh or greater for standard capacity and 2.50 L/kWh or greater for high-capacity units.

PURCHASE ELIGIBILITY:
Rebate is valid for purchases made June 1, 2010, through May 31, 2011, or until program funding is exhausted. All rebate requests must be postmarked no later than July 1, 2011.

LIMIT:
Offer is limited to two dehumidifier rebates per residential electric customer. Qualifying dehumidifiers must be installed at residences within the Ameren Illinois service territory. Ameren Illinois reserves the right to conduct field inspections to verify that installation is complete. Limitation of liability: Ameren Illinois does not expressly or implicitly guarantee the performance of installed equipment.
